Embroidery and Cross Stitch Designs

Hi Everyone,

I apologize for my absence. Having a baby has been such a joy but has made me very busy :) Also setting a schedule for 3 kids takes time. I'm sure many of you can relate. I hope this makes up for it. Anyway... I am so excited about what I have been working on lately!!!!!!! I hope you will be as excited about this too.

Embroidery and Cross Stitch Patterns! Look how cute!

So let me explain more about this. You would download the design and the silhouette would cut a series of circles that you would then stitch. No extra holes around your stitching (which I have never liked the look of). This is so much cleaner. So many things you can use these patterns on. Cards, layouts, wall art, etc. The great thing about this is that you can pick card stock with all sorts of patterns and textures and then embroider on it, adding a whole new dimension to your crafting. The first image of the hot air balloon is 8.5 x 11 and I was designing it more as wall art for a baby or kids room.

I am also planning (time willing) to make cute embroidery borders for your layouts and pictures and hopefully some subway art. I am submitting these to silhouette today and if there are not technical difficulties they should be in the silhouette store next week

Here are some tips to help you out.
  • I don't recommend shrinking the image or your paper might tear up
  • please keep in mind that enlarging the image will make the needle holes larger and the stitch length longer.
  • I recommend card stock for stability
  • some machines might not make clean holes in your paper. This depends on how sharp your blade is, the pattern size and the kind of paper your using. Don't worry about this. Lightly scrape off the scraps. I then use a mechanical pencil (without the lead) and my finger on the other side to pinch the pieces out of the holes. You can also just push the paper through the holes with your needle as your stitching. If you find other solutions, please do share!
  • be gentle. The holes are far enough apart to not be a problem, but if your yanking at the paper it will wear and tear apart.
  • For those of you who have the old silhouette pen holder that lets you put almost any pen in the silhouette you can use the pattern, a fabric washable pen/pencil and the silhouette to draw the pattern onto a piece of fabric which you can then stitch. If there is a good response to this I will continue to make more elaborate designs.
I hope you all love this as much as I do!
