Using special characters in the Yellow Daisy Font Tutorial

Hey everyone!

I hope you like my new font. Here is a small tutorial on how to use the special characters in the font. It's just basically find, copy and paste. I am on a Mac so those are the only images I could make myself for now.

Open Character Map by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Character Map, and then, in the list of results, click Character Map.

  1. Open Character Map by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Character Map, and then, in the list of results, click Character Map.
  2. Click the Font list, and then click the font you want to use.
  3. Click the special character you want to insert into the document.
  4. Click Select, and then click Copy.
  5. Open your document and click the location in the document where you want the special character to appear.
  6. Click the Edit menu, and then click Paste.

  • Many programs allow you to drag special characters into documents. To do this, click the character you want to copy. When the character appears enlarged, drag it into the open document.

    Make sure you have the font installed before opening your software.
    Open up Font Book.  Click User to see all the fonts you have downloaded and installed onto your computer.  Navigate to Samantha. This is what you'll see right now and you'll probably notice it's missing all the fancy glyphs.

    If you go up to the menu bar and click VIEW and switch from sample to Repertoire, your view will change and you'll have access to the complete font.

    Now open your program and the easiest way to do this is to copy and paste. Use the scroll bar on the right side of the font book window to find the letter you want to use. Once you find it, click it to make it blue then simply hit COMMAND+C (copy).

    Switch to your chosen program and hit COMMAND+V (paste). Make sure in designer programs like silhouette Studio or Illustrator you have selected your Text/type tool and started your text insert.

    In Silhouette it will look like a red box. Don't Worry.

    Just click on the text style window icon, from the Font Style, scroll down to find Yellow Daisy.

Monogram Font Tutorial

Hey Guys, I thought I would place a small tutorial here on the monogram fonts. This might help clear up some issues for the newbies. I hope it does :)

First: Find the correct sequence for the Monogram font you have. Here are the links.

State Sets Link
There are 2 separate State sets. The first is alphabetically from Alabama- Missouri and the second is Montana - Wyoming. I apologize for the title mistakes in the Silhouette store. I am trying to get it repaired. Just make sure to read the description. Also the blog link above has a list of included States in each set to make it easier.
This image is for Alabama -Missouri
This image is for Montana - Wyoming

Very Basic Monogram Link. This is for any monogram that contains the look of characters.
All other fonts use the sequence: uppercase letter - lowercase letter - uppercase letter.

In the Silhouette software:
1. Select the Text tool (the one with the "A")

2. Click anywhere on your page and type in the sequence needed for your monogram font.
for example: to get "AAA" it will be
State Sets: a1Aa (this give you "AAA" in the state of Alabama
Very Basic Monograms: Aa0
all others: aAa

PS: Sorry this is so technical, but it was the only way I could figure out how to get this to do what I want and have it do all the spacing, sizing and framing for you.

3. Select your letter (click and drag your mouse along the letters, like you highlight sentences). Select the upper right hand search field under "Font Style" and type in the desired monogram font you want - click enter.

4. For Monograms with script lettering only, skip this step and continue to step 5. All other fonts are ready to be sized and cut out.

5. All Monogram Script Fonts: Notice that the letters overlap (where my cursor hand is)? You don't want this. So Select the monogram and click the second button on the lower left. This will ungroup your letters and frame. This is also good to know if you want to be changing colors and such. Then click this button on the lower left bar.   This will fuse the letters together and remove your overlap. (shown below.

Now just size it to the dimension you want and cut it out. Your all done. I really hope this helps. Just pay attention to the sequence you use.

Monogram Key strokes

Hey everyone!

This is only for this basic style monograms shown. For all the other styles please use lowercase, uppercase, lowercase.

I am going to be doing a series of monogram fonts that will make customizing your own monogram super easy. The font is already set up to place the letters within the design. All you have to do is refer to the chart below in order to place the letters in the correct sequence. In order to make this font work I had to replace numbers and some punctuation with the last letter of the monogram. I hope you enjoy them and it makes your life easier.

First Letter: Uppercase letters (use the keys A-Z with the shift key or caps lock)
Second Letter: Lowercase letters (use the keys a-z)
Third Letter:
A= 0
B= 1
C= 2
D= 3
E= 4
F= 5
G= 6
H= 7
I= 8
J= 9
K= !
L= (
M= #
N= \
O= :
P= ,
Q= .
R= ?
S= ;
T= *
U= /
V= {
W= }
X= [
Y= ]
Z= )

So to break it down. Choose your first letter by using any Capital letter.
This is what happens when I hit shift+A on my computer

Choose your second letter by using any lowercase letter.
I added the middle B when I hit B on my computer
This is a lowercase B by itself

Choose your third letter using the chart above as reference.
I added the last c by hitting 2 on my computer
This is what it looks like when 2 is typed by itself

And thats it! If you have any questions, just let me know. All the monogram fonts will follow this same chart.

New Opportunity

Hey Everyone! I know that there is so much going on with the Silhouette Sale and all the fonts I am uploading. I hope you are enjoying all of them! I will keep making more sketch versions of some of the existing fonts so please keep checking my Silhouette store.
Anyway, more news! I got this little gem in the mail today! Isn't it beautiful. I was offered to make some of my designs into beautiful pieces of jewelry. I'm so excited about this and wanted to let you know that you all will be a huge part of this. I would love to know your favorite designs and what material you would like to see them in. Here is the first design I will be doing. Which one do you like most? Let me know what you think of this new opportunity. Soon I will be able to make rings and bracelets and hopefully 3D designs.
